Indian Govt's 5 SMS per day person to person restriction for 15 days

Hi! You have sent 5 SMS today. As per Govt. guidelines, you can,t send more outgoing person to person SMS today. Your SMS services will be resumed post Midnight.

From 18-Aug you have observed that you are getting this message while sending more than 5 SMS to a single person. This was the most ever heard rule by the Indian Government (TRAI), This news has been, rounds since July this year but it’s finally confirmed now. From 18th of August 2012 you can’t send more than 5 SMS to a person, and it has been a person to person Restriction Policy.
As of now, many telecom operaters have implemented this and users have already started getting these type of messages, while others yet to go. But on a official note, I was not able to find any formal announcement on TRAI's website.
I know its a very sad news for all who chat through SMS. But this action has bound the telecom providers with a great competition, So soon there will be a way to recover it. Lets hope for the good. Stay in touch for more updates on it.

[Updated after 45 min of original post]

New updates are, Its not TRAI who did this. This not a new restriction. This is just a temporary thing for 15 days by Govt. of India. The decision was taken after reports of widespread circulation of SMSs and MMSs containing misleading information about Assam violence, threats to people of northeastern origin living in other parts of the country and doctored videos.
The home ministry has asked department of telecommunications to implement the order through the telecom operators.
From Friday onwards, no one will be able to send more than 5 SMSs in one go and more than 20 KB of data through mobile phones during the ban period. This ban period is of 15 days.

Aah! Finally a relief that its not permanent.

IF {this} THEN {that}

Internet, its not just a word, its a world. Now a days its growing like anything. There are number of services and applications available to manage, to educate, to entertain, to socialize, to share and to make you available for the rest of the world. But what if you can integrate them?

IFTTT is a service that lets you create powerful connections with one simple statement: "if this then that".

IFTTT, the service that lets you automate common tasks on the web, mostly focuses on consumer services like Dropbox, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Didn't get it? Bored for reading this? Now how about a magical trick?

Want to instantly save all your Instagram photos to Dropbox when you take them? What about automatically updating your Twitter profile when you update your Facebook profile? Or, what about sharing any article you read in Read It Later to Twitter and Facebook, staggered by time via Buffer? A small bootstrapped startup called If This Then That has abstracted a simple set of tools to help you do each of these things, and many more.

How this works?

You need to create a recipe, which contain a trigger(this) and action(that).

Recipes: are a combination of a Trigger and an Action from your active Channels.

Channels: are the basic building blocks of IFTTT. Each Channel has its own Triggers and Actions. Currently the are 47 channels supported, that includes facebook, twitter, RSS, sms, call, instagram, email, weather etc.

Triggers: The this part of a Recipe is a Trigger. Some example Triggers are “I’m tagged in a photo on Facebook” or “I post a tweet on Twitter.”

Actions: The that part of a Recipe is an Action. Some example Actions are “send me a text message” or “create a status message on Facebook.”

You can know more about IFTTT at IFTTT.com/WTF

Now some examples:
  • If {morning} then {send me weather updates via sms}.
  • If {anyone tag me on facebook} then {set its privacy to only me}.

In more simpler words you can do following:-
  • iTunes #FreeAppoftheWeek via Email
  • Created a photo album "tagged" and set the privacy on it to Only Me.
  • Text me the weather every morning.
  • When Facebook profile picture changes, update Twitter profile picture.
  • Every time you are tagged in a photo on Facebook, it will be sent to Dropbox.
  • Let me know if it's going to rain.
  • Keeping all the images you upload to FB photos in one safe place
  • Save photo from Instagram to Dropbox
Also, there are many ready to you recipes at IFTTT.com/Recipes

Once you will understand the whole concept, eventually you'll fall in love with it. Like, I am. :)

Use it. Share it. Share happiness.

Low Battery! WTF!!

How to improve battery life

Hello everyone. Namastay!
Now a days everyone's life dependents upon battery.
"Hell, What?"
No people are not running on battery :P. But their important gadgets and devices are. And almost everyone faces the problem that after few months their battery's performance decrease drastically. So what is the problem actually? Are manufacturers not working on this thing? No, this is not. The reason is we are not caring out our batteries.
"Who told you? I care my battery like anything. I kill unwanted tasks, switch off WiFi/ Bluetooth if I am not using, adjust screen brightness as per day light."

Well you are doing good, but I have discussed it with few battery experts and customer care executives. I came to know about many facts on batteries. Following are some best practices for you. So here we go:
  • Always use the original/native charger to charge a battery. Each type of battery has some specification and you must use an original/native charger for it. Never use things like multi-battery charger, duplicate car chargers, etc.
  • Don't charge if your batteries are not really drained out. I saw many people, As soon as they enter into their room or find a empty charger they just plug it in. You should always charge you device if its showing low battery sign.
  • Charge it fully. Everytime when you charge your device, charge it fully(100%). Don't plug out in between.
  • Try to avoid the use of device while charging it. I know its not possible everytime. But still you can keep this thing in your mind.
  • Avoid extra heating of device. While charging you can put your mobile/laptop/tablet keep its back side in front. So that the batteries can cool down.
You can find these things silly, but believe me once you start following them, on a long run your battery performance will improve for sure.
I am using mobile, laptop, tablet, trimmer, digital camera since ages :P and have not faced any battery problem :) (touchwood).

I have tried to keep it more readable, simpler and hide most of the technical details. If someone want to know more, can write me.

Have fun with your batteries.
